1  Introduction

Personal Internet Banking  lets you bank online wherever you have access to the Internet when and where it suits you. Whether you are at home or work, Personal Internet Banking gives you the power to choose when you access your HSBC accounts, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

With Personal Internet Banking you can:

  • View account and Credit Card balances
  • View Account transactions
  • Transfer money between your accounts or to any other accounts worldwide
  • Create and view transfer template details
  • Pay your Credit Card(s) from HSBC
  • Open Term Deposits or change existing maturity instructions 
  • Update personal details 
  • Online Credit Card request 
  • Change your password

2  What do I need to access the service?

The minimum system requirements for customers wishing to use the Personal Internet Banking service via a PC is as follows: 

  • Netscape Communicator Version 4.72 or higher - excluding Version 6.x (currently not supported) - with the following features: 
  • Third-party plug-in extensions 
  • Secure Socket Layer

   or

   Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 5.0 or higher 

  • 486/66 Processor *
  • 12 MB memory (24Mb for NT)
  • 50 MB free disk space
  • Windows 95, 98 or NT 4.0 (with Service Pack 4) 
  • 128-bit Encryption is required

The minimum system requirements for customers wishing to use the Personal Internet Banking  service via an Apple Mac is as follows:

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.5 

or

  • Netscape version 4.0 or higher - excluding Version 6.x (currently not supported) 
  • PowerPC 68030 processor 
  • 8 MB memory 
  • 9.1 - 36.6 MB free disk space (depends on installation configuration)
  •  MacOS v7.1 
  • 128-bit Encryption is required.

3  How do I register for the service?

Registration

To register for the service select Personal Internet Banking from our web site and click on the "Register" button.

You will have to key in your Personal Banking Number (PBN) and Phone Banking PIN. You will also have to create a six character Password (letters or numbers only, or a combination of both) of your choice and confirm. This Password will have to be used along with your PBN to access Personal Internet Banking for all future logons.

You will then be presented with the 'Terms and Conditions' for Personal Internet Banking. After you accept the 'Terms and Conditions' you will be shown the list of all your accounts held with the Bank, which are linked to your customer number. At this stage, you may choose to unmark one or more of your accounts from this service. When you confirm your acceptance of the list by clicking on 'Confirm', you are presented with a 'Welcome' screen for Personal Internet Banking. You can now logon to access your Bank Accounts.

Note: You can view our Terms and Conditions online and print a copy, if required, by clicking on the 'Print' option on your browser.

4  Using Personal Internet Banking

Accounts

Under the 'Accounts' icon, you can view the accounts that you hold with the Bank. By clicking on the account number, details relevant to the account will be displayed. By clicking on the balance against each account, transaction details can be viewed.

Transfers

You can: *

  • Transfer money between your
    accounts or to any other accounts
    worldwide 
  • Pay your Credit Card Account(s)

The transfers made to beneficiary accounts can be set up at a specified future date or set up as recurring transfers.

Note: When you use Personal Internet Banking, there is a daily limit to the amount of money you can transact. Details of the daily limits can be found using the 'Help' icon on the grey navigator tool bar to the left of the screen. Cut Off Times for specific currencies are also available on the navigator tool bar.

Term Deposit

You can open Term Deposits online, change existing maturity instructions or enquire about HSBC Term Deposit interest rates.

Read Messages

You can read messages that HSBC Bank Middle East Limited (Jordan) has sent you.

Update Personal Details

You fill out the Update Personal Details form to advise us of a change of address or any other personal details. Please note this will change your main record for all your accounts with us.

Online Credit Card Request

You can request a Visa or MasterCard Credit Card by filling out the 'Online Credit Card Request' form in the 'Online Services' section

5  Security

Security is our top priority. Your Personal Banking Number and Password protect your financial information. Your Personal Banking Number (PBN) and Personal Internet Banking Password together uniquely identify you and help safeguard against your bank details being accessed by anybody but you (provided you follow our security procedures).

6  Costs

The service is free. Online time is charged in accordance with your Internet Service Provider's tariff. For transaction costs please see the Fees and Charges section from the HSBC Bank Middle East Limited (Jordan) website or from the Personal Internet Banking site.
